 | Biology 1406
An introduction to the biological sciences for students who plan to major or
minor in biology or pre-professional studies or to fulfill the laboratory science
requirement of other majors. This course utilizes an integrated approach and emphasizes
the molecular basis of life, cellular organization, bioenergetics, Mendelian and molecular
genetics. |
 | Biology 1407 This
course is an introduction to the biological sciences for students who plan
to major or minor in biology or pre-professional studies or to fulfill the
laboratory science requirement of other majors.
This course emphasizes the
unity and diversity of life through the study of ecology and plant and
animal evolution. Topics for
discussion include origin of life, population genetics, biodiversity, and
ecology.
|
 | Biology 2421 This course is
a survey of microbiology emphasizing microbial morphology, metabolism, growth, and
genetics. The classification of microorganisms with emphasis on biological principles and
the medical significance to humans is also included. |
 | Chemistry 1406 This course
is an introduction to chemistry providing the student with a basic understanding of matter
and energy, atomic structure, bonding, molar relationships, and stoichiometry. This
course is designed to meet the needs of students seeking an allied health
degree or a Bachelor's degree in a
non-scientific field or students planning to take General Chemistry. |
 | Chemistry 1411 This course is a general chemistry
course for those students majoring in science, engineering, or
pre-professional studies. The course covers atomic structure, the
periodic law, formulas, equations, quantum mechanics, gas laws, stochiometry,
bonding, and thermochemistry. |
