Brett Bognar

Assistant Baseball Coach

           

Brett Bognar comes to Northeast Texas Community College by way of Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Mo. He spent the past two seasons as a Graduate Assistant in charge of the pitching staff, outfielders, team conditioning, and recruiting.

Bognar pitched collegiately at St. Charles Community College in St. Charles, Mo and then transferred to Northwest Missouri State University.  While at Northwest Missouri Bognar was an honorable mention All-MIAA pitcher and was selected to the MIAA Commissioners Academic Honor Roll.

While at Northwest Missouri the pitching staff posted a 6.08 era in 2006 and posted a 4.68 era in 2007, the lowest it has been in 10 years.  In 2007 the pitching staff had an opponent batting average of .288 and allowed only 112 walks while striking out 246 batters. He saw 5 pitchers get selected to MIAA pitcher’s of the week throughout his two year span.  In 2007 he saw one pitcher selected to the All MIAA baseball second team and two pitcher’s selected the honorable mention team.  Bognar also saw one pitcher selected to Rawlings/ABCA Central Region second team.

For the past two summers Bognar was the pitching coach for the Thomasville Hi Toms of the Coastal Plains League in Thomasville, North Carolina.  While on staff he saw four players get drafted with one player going in the third round of the 2007 amateur player draft.  In 2006 the Hi Toms won the Petit Cup Championship, the first in franchise history, while going 33-22 and posting a regular season era of 4.29 and a post season tournament era of 3.27.  The 2006 Hi Toms pitching staff also led the league with 429 strikeouts. The summer of 2007, the Hi Toms repeated as champions winning a second straight Petit Cup Championship while going 39-16 and posting a 3.52 team era with 407 strikeouts.  The 2007 Hi Toms set a franchise record for wins that year.

Bognar has been active in coaching since the summer of 2001 where he coached for the American National West Eagles with the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association for three years. Bognar is also member of the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Bognar graduated in April of 2005 with a B.S. in Corporate Recreation and Wellness from Northwest Missouri State University.  In April of 2007 Bognar graduated with his Master’s in Exercise Science from Northwest Missouri State University.

Bognar was born and raised in St. Charles, Mo where his parents Barry and Rhonda still reside.  His three sisters Heather, Lori, and Annette also reside in St. Charles, Mo.
