11-14-05 Bittle Signs with Ole Miss Scott Bittle is the most recent in a long list of NTCC athletes to sign with a school ranked in the Nations Top 25. Sophomore, Scott Bittle a native of Texarkana was the first Eagle to ink his scholarship for next year. Scott elected to attend the University of Mississippi, more commonly known as Ole Miss Univ. “We are extremely proud of Scott and what he has accomplished here at NTCC” said Coach Smith. “He really has worked hard over the last year to put himself in a position to be able to sign with a school such as Ole Miss.” The 6 foot 2 inch 190 pound right handed pitcher, posted a 6-4 mark and was NTCC’s most reliable starter during the 2005 campaign. Scott, Northeast’s top returning pitcher, finished the year with a 4.22 ERA, second on the team in innings pitched (49), and strike outs (53). When asked how he felt about Scott’s accomplishments Rob St. Julien, NTCC’s pitching coach said, “Ole Miss is getting more than just a quality athlete; they are getting a quality individual. I am honored to be able to work with an athlete and a person such as Scott.” Scott chose the University of Mississippi over TCU, Southeastern LA University, University of Houston, and Charleston Southern University. Ole Miss’s reputation for excellence was a large factor in Scott’s decision. Last season the Rebels posted a 48-20 record (school record for wins), captured the 2005 SEC Western division title, hosted an NCAA Super Regional where they were one game away from a trip to NCAA College World Series, and finished the year ranked 10th in the nation. |
