8-13-05 Dorsett has Phenomenal Junior Year Former Eagle, Wesley Dorsett, turned in an impressive Junior year and finished up with an equally remarkable summer. The Pittsburg, TX native, anchored down the bullpen for the Eagles from ’03-’04. Wesley was an integral part of the 2003 TEAC Conference Championship team, posting 3 saves and an ERA of 2.89. Dorsett continued his dominance at the University of Nevada Reno where he was the Wolfpack’s most reliable reliever. In his first season of Division I baseball; Wesley posted numbers which would rank him with the best relievers in the country. Dorsett finished the year leading Reno in saves (5), was tied for first in team appearances (19), lead the team in innings in relief (32), and opponent batting average (.237). Upon the conclusion of the collegiate season, Wesley was invited to play for the Mineral Wells Steam in the prestigious Texas Collegiate League. The Junior right hander was the definition of consistency leading the pitching staff in nearly every statistical category. Dorsett posted a perfect 4-0 record with a 0.68 Earned Run Average. Wes led the club in wins (4), saves (3), earned run average (0.68), fewest runs allowed (3) and fewest earned runs allowed (2). Dorsett was recognized as one of the top pitchers in the league as well as the country when he was named to the TCL All Star Game which was featured on FOX and was asked to pitch in the TCL Futures game. “The Features game was a great way for Wesley to show his ability in front of some of the best scouts in the country.” Head Coach Chris Smith said, “It is a great honor to be asked to play in the TCL Futures game because the players are voted in by coaches and scouts. The scouts are taking the best of the best and the guys they think have a shot to make it at the next level… Wesley stepped up and performed well.” You can follow Wesley’s progress at Nevada Reno by clicking on http://nevadawolfpack.collegesports.com/sports/m-basebl/unv-m-basebl-body.html
