WILBURTON, OK -- The Eagles of Northeast TX Community College shut down the Mountaineers of Eastern Oklahoma with dominant pitching and plenty of offense. Starting pitcher Scott Bittle set the tone early holding the Mountaineers hitters to only 1 hit in the first five frames. The Eagles pushed across a run in the top of 3rd inning when Aaron Murphree scored Jesus Alvarez on an RBI single to center field. The Eagles took charge in the top of the 5th inning when they sent 11 hitters to plate, scored 6 runs on 4 hits and a pair of Eastern errors. Bittle finished the day surrendering only 2 hits while striking out 9. The game was cut short as a result of the ten run rule. The final out of the game was recorded on an attempted sacrifice fly to NTCC's center fielder Jesus Alvarez who gunned down Matt Huggard at the plate to keep the Eagle's shutout in order.
