Hill College struck first, putting up five runs in the first three frames.  Ryan Saldivar got the Eagles back into the game with a two run home run in the bottom of the 3rd inning.  Frank Weaver relieved starter Scott Bittle and held the Rebel hitters at bay as the Eagles closed the gap plating another run in the bottom of the 5th to bring the score to 5-3.  Hill responded with a three run 6th scoring all three runs with 2 outs on consecutive bloop base hits in front of the Eagle right fielder Jeremy Travis.  In the bottom of the 6th inning the Eagle hitters plated 3 runs and had the tying run at the plate but came up short flying out to center field to end the threat.  Brasher Turner pitched a scoreless 7th, but the Eagle hitters went down in order in the 7th at the hands of the Hill reliever Ryan Corley.

Game 2   (Box Score)

Score 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 R H E
Hill College 0 1 0 1 0 0 0 2 6 2
Northeast TX C.C. 0 2 1 0 0 0 0 3 4 0

The Eagles took the second game with pitching and defense.  Hill struck first scoring a single run in the second with an RBI single off the bat of short-stop Ryan Corley.  In the bottom of the second the Eagles pieced together a "two out ralley" to take the lead.   Sophomore center fielder, Jesus Alvarez, drove in first baseman Joe Levingston on a single up the middle to give Eagles the lead.  NTCC's starting pitcher Steve Smith pitched a scoreless 3rd and the Eagle hitters added to their lead when Levingston drove in a catcher Kyle Cheesbrough, on an RBI single to left field, to give the Eagles all the runs they would need.  Smith surrendered a single run in the 4th on a solo home run off the bat of Hill's right fielder Trent Lockwood.  The Hill Rebels threatened in the top of the 5th when they advanced runners to first and second, but pitching coach Rob St. Julien summoned the bullpen.   Sophomore reliever Brad Crawford came on to pick up a the third out, in the form of a strike out to to Hill's Lockwood, the same hitter who homered in his previous at bat!  A 3-2 lead was all the Eagles would need as Brandon Wellborn was called upon to pick up his first save of the season pitching the 6th and 7th frames of hitless baseball.
